Who We Are

Bodker & Co was set up by Christopher Bodker to channel his passion for architecture, design and construction.  His approach is demanding and exacting, no detail is too small.  His design palette is sophisticated yet restrained and relies on a carefully curated choice of materials and their juxtaposition.

Projects include large houses and apartments, typically involving extensive refurbishment or complete reconstruction, and frequently demanding a strategic approach to planning, often the key to unlocking value.

Christopher left S.G. Warburg in June 1994 to build his own restaurant business, in many ways founded on the same principles and approach to space, there being little difference between creating a home and a restaurant; both being spaces where people want to be, to relax, feel comfortable, and enjoy themselves.

One of the principles that underpinned Christopher’s strategy for growing his restaurant business was world class architecture.  For example, he commissioned Rick Mather to design The Avenue and David Chipperfield to design Circus. Julyan Wickham was briefed to extend Kensington Place and to design The Fish Shop. Christopher has gone on to employ some of the country’s top architectural talent to design the homes he builds, both for end users but also speculatively on behalf of sophisticated investors.

Christopher’s passion for world class architecture has resulted in him twice been noted by The Royal Institute of British Architects as one of the Top 25 Architectural Clients in Britain.
